Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS THE LEAGUE FORMAT LIKE?
Typically, each team will play two games per day/evening. Games will usually be 20 minutes running time and played on a half court. Games will be scored by a referee. Typically there is music playing and concessions available. We try to build the schedule so your team plays its two games within 90 minutes or less.
HOW DO I MAKE SURE I GET TO PLAY ON THE SAME TEAM AS MY FRIENDS?
You will need to register as a TEAM. You must have a minimum of 3 players and can have a maximum of 6 players. One player's parent/guardian will complete the on-line registration form for the team. This person will be the Primary Contact for the team. Primary Contacts need to be prepared to enter roster information for each player (shirt size, graduation year, name, phone number & email address) and to pay the complete team fee.
WHAT ARE THE RULES OF 3ON3KC LEAGUES?
This document will be emailed to the primary contacts of each team as well as be available on the first league date when your team picks up their shirts.
CAN WE HAVE A COACH?
No. This league is NOT intended to have teams being coached. We allow a parent/guardian to sit with the teams on the FIRST TWO GAME DATES to help with substitutions. Following that date, no parents/guardians will be allowed on or near the players’ bench area. The uniqueness of this league is that kids are allowed to run their own team. If obvious coaching is being done during the games, it should be brought to the attention of the site director.
HOW DO WE FIND OUR SCHEDULE?
Schedules will be posted on the specific league's page. We typically post schedules one week at a time about 5 days prior to a league date. This allows us to monitor game scores and make sure teams are playing the most appropriate competition possible.
WHAT IF WE HAVE SCHEDULE CONFLICTS?
If our scheduling work has not begun (generally 6-10 days prior to a play date), you can submit schedule conflict information. ONCE THE SCHEDULE HAS BEEN POSTED, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ALTER IT. BE SURE TO GET YOUR REQUEST SUBMITTED 10 DAYS IN ADVANCE.
WHERE IS THE REQUIRED LIABILITY WAIVER?
On the right side of the league page you can find event documents. Click on the link to access the electronic form. This waiver needs to be completed by the parent/guardian of each player on the team before participating (sub players also need to complete it).
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
Refunds will be issued if requested via email prior to the registration deadline and will be reduced by a $30 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued after the registration closes.
WHAT IF MY CHILD DOESN'T HAVE A TEAM BUT WANTS TO PLAY?
We can let people know you are looking for a team and someone may contact you. Email us at 3on3kc@gmail.com with the following information:
league(s) you are interested in playing in
gender of player
graduation year of player
phone or email
We will post this information on the specific league page(s) in the Free Agents section. Be sure to check the league page often to see if there are other players posted whom you can contact to play with your child.
WHICH DIVISION DO WE REGISTER FOR?
Boys and girls divisions will be organized by grade level (graduation year). Read the registration information carefully to be sure to select the correct division. Teams can certainly register to play in an older division if they feel the competition would be more appropriate. Keep in mind that many players in this league are not "A"-level traveling basketball players. If your team is made up of players of varying grade levels, it is recommended that you sign up for the division that your oldest player qualifies for.
We try our best to schedule teams to play appropriate competition. Much of it depends on you selecting the right division. We will watch scores and may schedule out-of-division games if scores indicate them to be more appropriate competition.
WHAT CONSTITUTES A FORFEIT?
We don't keep records or post standings. Our objective is to provide kids an opportunity to play basketball. Other teams don't appreciate showing up without an opponent to play. Teams should make every attempt to have at least three registered players present for each game. IF A TEAM IS GOING TO BE SHORT PLAYERS, THEY SHOULD FIND SUBS. If a team does not show up with enough players, the staff will try to find other players to fill in. If a substitute team can't be formed, the team that is present has rights to use the basket and court space during that slotted game time.
HOW DO WE KNOW OUR STANDING IN OUR DIVISION?
We do not give awards to division winners. Instead, we try to match teams to the most appropriate competition.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the case of inclement weather and games needing to be canceled, we will make every effort to secure more facility time to make up the missed games.
